1985 - 1996 · The Beginnings
The original form of the marketplace reimagined
For centuries, the term "forum" has stood for the central place of trade, exchange, transparency, and synaesthetic experience in public life. These foundations also formed the basis of the visionary idea of the company's founder, Werner Fochtmann, who has been established as a jeweler with his own creations on Maximiliansstraße in Munich since 1985, to open a new, exclusive "marketplace".
Drawing inspiration from the ancient forum, he wanted to free the trade of jewelry and watches from its non-transparent or even dubious image and instead create a central place where trade takes place in a framework of absolute seriousness, transparency, and discretion.
From this wish/guiding principle, in 1996, Munich's first real jewelry forum at the time was created: not an anonymous shop, but a central meeting place for people who share Fochtmann's passion with their enthusiasm for the beautiful and enduring.
The name "Fochtmanns Forum", short "FoFo", thus builds the bridge from the ancient idea of a central place of trade to the new interpretation focused on jewelry and watches in the heart of Munich.
